Listen to Your Heart | Sankalpa by Zigizen

Listen to your heart

“Your heart is your most reliable compass. Listen to your heart’s wisdom and let your heart’s desire be your north.”

~Sigalscroll logo red black2013

Live from your heart and let your mind follow.

Try to nurture a relationship between your heart, your mind, and your life.

It will empower you to listen to your heart before your ego-mind takes over and appropriate it for its own use.

Reclaim your internal navigation system, your intention, your life!

Why listen to your heart’s wisdom?

Focusing on ourselves is something many of us forget to do – deferring instead to the needs and demand of chores and others, following external guidance, media & consumer culture, instead of our own. Listening to our heart and knowing our purpose is crucial to living a joyful and meaningful life. There is no other way to really live a spontaneous and authentic life.

The Reward: When we live from our heart and not our mind, we experience freedom from suffering, fear, and anger, and enjoy being carefree and at-ease with ourselves and all of life.

Ways to Listen to Your Heart:

Ask Yourself: What Do I Love?

This question, answered honestly, will put you in touch with what you love rather than what you should love. What is important to you rather than what should be important. The clarification of what you love will bring you “home again,” bring you a sense of peace and calm, and help guide your life.

Take Time to Sit Quietly

Relax, breathe and quiet your mind without trying to make anything happen. Recall and reflect on important moments in your life. What do you feel grateful for? What do you wish you have done differently? What has been the guiding principle, values or code, of your life? Let your heartfelt desire emerge. Listen carefully; be aware of arising feelings, sensations, and thoughts and take note of them. This time of undisturbed listening and reflecting allows you to “hear” your heart’s purpose, get in touch with your feelings, and what you most desire in your life.

As Littlefoot’s mother said in Land Before Time:

“Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen carefully.”

Ask Yourself These Questions and Journal:

  • What is my true calling?
  • What are the actions I need to take to live a joyful meaningful life?
  • What does the universe want me to share and live?
  • What is my life’s purpose and guiding value?
  • How do I live a truly remarkable life?

“Imagine how your life would be if you had the habit of checking in with your heart as often as you check your email or facebook.” ~Sigal

With Sankalpa you write down your thoughts, affirmations, intentions, and inspirations, and to keep them close to your heart as a reminder of your heart’s purpose throughout your day, everyday.

How Do I Know If  I’m Doing it Right? “When you do things from your soul you feel a river moving in you, a joy. When action comes from another section, the feeling disappears.” ~Rumi

When making decisions,“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs are people who have come alive.” ~Howard Thurman

Each of us has a purpose in life that is uniquely our own. We have lessons to learn and gifts to share. At home, at work and at play, we are constantly making important decisions that impact our lives, yet we are often too busy to discern the best path – to listen to our hearts and remember our life’s purpose.
